What a breast ultrasound is
A breast ultrasound is a detailed assessment of breast structure: on the screen the radiologist sees the breast tissue and any changes in it. The examination uses no radiation, is completely painless and safe, so it can be repeated as often as needed without risk.
After the examination you receive a report with the radiologist's findings and conclusion, usually straight away, with an explanation of what it means and what comes next. You can take the report straight to your own doctor.
