What dermoscopy is
Dermoscopy is an examination of the skin with a special instrument (a dermatoscope) that magnifies the structure of a mole and allows the doctor to assess features that are invisible to the naked eye. On the basis of the examination the doctor decides whether a mole is harmless, whether it should be monitored, or whether it should be removed and sent for analysis.
When to book a mole check

What the examination is like
The examination is carried out by Dr Dušica Matović, dermatologist. After discussing the changes you have noticed, the doctor examines the moles over your whole body with a dermatoscope. If any lesion is suspicious, removal and pathohistological analysis are arranged, which give a definitive answer. Smaller lesions are usually removed with radiowaves, or surgically where necessary, in cooperation with our surgical team.
Frequently asked questions
Does a mole check hurt?
No. Dermoscopy is completely painless: the doctor examines the moles on your skin with a special magnifying instrument (a dermatoscope). The examination takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of moles.
Which moles should be checked?
Any mole that is changing: growing, changing color or shape, with uneven edges, itching or bleeding. The ABCDE rule helps: asymmetry, border, color, diameter greater than 6 mm and evolution (change). Book an examination as soon as possible for lesions like these.
How often should a mole check be done?
Once a year as a precaution, and more often if you have many moles or fair skin, if you are frequently exposed to the sun, or if anyone in your family has had melanoma. After the summer is a good time for a check.
What if a mole is suspicious?
