Frequently asked questions

How often should you have a gynecology check-up?
Once a year as a precaution, together with a Pap test and an ultrasound, even when you have no symptoms. Regular check-ups detect changes at the stage when they are easiest to treat.
What does a complete gynecology consultation include?
A discussion, an examination, colposcopy and an ultrasound, plus a Pap test, HPV typing and swabs where needed. It is all done in a single visit, and the doctor explains your results to you straight away.
Do you offer HPV testing?
Yes, we perform HPV PCR typing, either on its own or alongside a Pap or ThinPrep test. Combining the two tests gives the fullest picture of the risk of changes to the cervix.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Book your appointment outside your period, ideally in the middle of your cycle. For two days beforehand avoid intercourse, vaginal pessaries and douching, especially if a Pap test is being done.
