A dermatologist diagnoses and treats diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes: acne and acne scars, eczema and atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, rosacea, fungal and bacterial infections, warts and condylomas, allergic reactions, hair loss and nail changes. A special part of the work is mole checks and the early detection of melanoma, because a change caught in time is removed simply, while one found late is hard to treat.
At Miren Medic examinations are done by Dr Sandra Čađenović and Dr Dušica Matović, specialists in dermatovenereology. The same doctors perform the aesthetic procedures, so the health of your skin and its appearance are not handled by two different doctors.
The examination starts with a conversation about your complaints, how long they have lasted, what makes them worse and what you have used so far. The doctor then examines the skin under strong light, and every suspicious change with a dermatoscope, a device that magnifies the structure of the skin and shows what the naked eye cannot see. If needed a swab is taken or a biopsy is planned, done under local anaesthetic.
At the end you receive a diagnosis, treatment and a follow-up plan, all in a written report you take with you. The examination takes 20 to 30 minutes. Smaller lesions such as fibromas, keratoses or dilated capillaries are removed by radiowave, as agreed with the doctor at the same or the next appointment.
Come without make-up and without nail polish so the skin and nails can be seen. Bring previous reports and a list of the medicines and products you use, including creams and supplements. If a lesion is changing, a photo from a few weeks earlier helps the doctor see the course. Before a mole check avoid sunbathing and sunbeds for at least a week, because reddened skin makes assessment harder.
