Mole removal in Belgrade

  • Dermoscopy 6.000 RSD
  • Radiowave or surgical
  • No referral

At the Miren Medic polyclinic a mole is removed after a dermatologist's consultation and dermoscopy. The dermatologist first assesses whether the lesion is benign or suspicious, and then suggests how to remove it: by radiowave, for smaller harmless lesions that bother you, or surgically, when the mole needs to be taken out whole and sent for histopathology.

No referral is needed. You can book online or by phone.

The first step is dermoscopy, not removal

A mole is not removed just because it bothers you, without an examination. The dermatologist first looks at it with a dermatoscope, an instrument that magnifies the skin and lights it so that structures under the surface can be seen. The examination does not hurt, it is short, and it answers the most important question: is the mole benign or suspicious.

Everything else depends on that answer:

  • A benign mole that bothers you, for example when shaving, under clothing or for cosmetic reasons, can be removed by radiowave or surgically. The dermatologist chooses the method according to the size and position of the mole.
  • A suspicious mole is removed surgically, whole, and sent for histopathology, which gives the definitive diagnosis.
  • A mole that only needs watching is not removed; a follow-up is agreed instead.

Read more about the examination itself on the page mole check and dermoscopy.

Radiowave or surgical mole removal

Both methods are done at the polyclinic, under local anaesthesia. Which one is right for your mole is decided by the dermatologist at the consultation.

How mole removal works

From the consultation to the result, in this order.

  1. Consultation and dermoscopy

The dermatologist talks with you about the mole that worries you and examines it with a dermatoscope, and the other moles on your body if needed.

  2. Agreeing on the method

You get an answer on whether the mole should be removed, by which method and what it costs. Smaller lesions are removed at the same or the next appointment, as agreed with the doctor.

  3. Procedure under local anaesthesia

The area is numbed with a local anaesthetic, so the procedure itself is not felt as pain. You only feel the prick of the anaesthetic.

  4. Care, check-up and result

You get instructions for caring for the small wound. If the mole was removed surgically, the stitches are taken out at the polyclinic, and the doctor explains the histopathology result at the check-up.

When to show a mole to a dermatologist

These are signs that a mole should be checked soon. They are not a diagnosis, but a reason for a dermatologist to look at it.

  • AsymmetryOne half of the mole does not match the other.
  • Irregular edgesThe edge is jagged, blurred or unclear.
  • Several coloursThe same mole has brown, black, red or bluish areas.
  • Change in size or shapeThe mole is growing or has changed compared with before.
  • Itching, bleeding, a soreThe mole itches, bleeds or develops a sore that does not heal.
  • A new mole after the age of 40Any new mole in adulthood is worth showing to a doctor.

After mole removal

The area is cared for according to the instructions you get after the procedure. In general: keep the small wound clean, do not pick the scab and keep it out of the sun until it heals, and after that protect the scar with a sunscreen cream.

After surgical removal the stitches are taken out at the polyclinic, at a time the doctor sets. If the mole was sent for histopathology, the doctor explains the result and tells you whether anything further is needed.

Get in touch before the scheduled check-up if spreading redness, swelling, pus or a raised temperature appear around the wound.

Frequently asked questions

Questions patients most often ask before mole removal.

How much does mole removal cost?
Radiowave removal of skin lesions costs from 3.000 RSD to 20.000 RSD, and surgical removal of lesions from 14.000 RSD to 25.000 RSD. The exact price depends on the method, size and number of moles and is known after the consultation. Dermoscopy costs 6.000 RSD, and histopathology from 6.000 RSD to 8.000 RSD.
Does mole removal hurt?
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia, so it is not felt as pain. You feel the prick of the anaesthetic. After the procedure the area may be tender for a few days.
Is a removed mole sent for analysis?
A suspicious mole is removed surgically, whole, and is always sent for histopathology, because that gives the definitive diagnosis. For other lesions the doctor decides on the analysis.
Can a mole be removed with a laser?
Removing a mole with a laser without dermoscopy first is not recommended, because the laser destroys the tissue that should be examined. At Miren Medic moles are removed by radiowave or surgically, after a dermatologist's consultation.
Is there a scar after removal?
Any procedure on the skin leaves a mark, and how visible it is depends on the size and position of the mole, the method and your skin. The doctor explains this before the procedure. Sun protection after healing helps the scar fade better.
Do I need a referral for mole removal?
No. You book the dermatologist and mole removal at Miren Medic directly, online or by phone, without a referral.
