Blood test at home in Belgrade

  • Laboratory at the polyclinic
  • At your home address
  • Within Belgrade

Laboratory tests at your home address are a service of the Miren Medic polyclinic: blood for the tests is taken at your home, and the samples are taken to the polyclinic's laboratory in Voždovac. The results are interpreted by the general practitioner or the specialist who recommended the tests.

The service is intended for bedridden and older people, for people with chronic illnesses who have regular check-ups and for anyone who finds it difficult to go to the laboratory in the morning on an empty stomach.

Which tests are done from a sample taken at home

The polyclinic's laboratory covers routine blood and urine tests, biochemical and immunological tests and hormone profiles, for example a complete blood count, blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides, liver function tests and thyroid hormones.

The choice of tests is agreed with a doctor, because it depends on the symptoms, the age and the therapy the patient takes. When arranging, tell us which tests are needed, and we will confirm whether they can all be done from a sample taken at home.

Before you receive the report, you can check what individual parameters mean in our blood count interpreter.

  • Whether the patient has a cold or a raised temperature
  • If drawing blood has been difficult before

Who a blood test at home is for

Bedridden and older people

When going out in the morning on an empty stomach, waiting and coming back is a bigger effort than the test itself.

People with chronic illnesses

With diabetes or thyroid disease, regular check-ups show how the therapy is working. For monitoring blood sugar, see also the HbA1c calculator.

After surgery and illness

When a doctor asks for follow-up tests and the patient is still recovering at home.

Patients receiving home care

When the tests are part of a therapy carried out at the home address.

Results and interpretation

For each result, the report gives reference values, which can differ from one laboratory to another. A single value outside the range is not a diagnosis in itself: it is interpreted together with the symptoms, the examination and earlier reports. With chronic conditions, how the values change over time matters more, so keep your earlier reports.

The results are interpreted by the doctor who recommended the tests. If you had the tests done without an examination, you can bring your report to a general practitioner at the polyclinic, and a doctor's examination is also possible at your home address.

Laboratory tests are meant for planned diagnostics and monitoring. A home visit is not a substitute for emergency services. With severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, signs of a stroke or heavy bleeding, call emergency services on 194 immediately.
